What is a PDO Thread?

The non-surgical thread lift treatment focuses on reducing or eliminating the signs of ageing using PDO thread placements. The threads are pulled to attain the effect of a facelift. It helps in repositioning the skin tissues. As a result, the neck and face regain their youthful appearance.

The thread lifts procedure utilises PDO sutures, which is an absorbable polymer. The PDO, polydioxanone, is durable and flexible, making it ideal for the thread lift treatment.

PDO sutures have three main textures:

  • Screw threads
  • Cog threads
  • Mono threads

The screw threads include one to two intertwined threads that offer added volume to the area being treated. Cog threads have a slight barbed texture that offers a good lift and stimulates the production of collagen in the skin. The mono threads have smooth, singular sutures that provide a slight lift to your skin.

For skin rejuvenation and tightening, your therapist will use mono threads. However, if you are hoping for better volume and lifting, then screw or cog threads will be used.

How Does it Work?
It begins with an initial consultation to determine what you are hoping to achieve from the procedure. Your aesthetic practitioner will determine the areas that must be targeted to help you achieve your desired results and will discuss them fully with you

On the Morning of your treatment, the practitioner will first mark your skin to insert and to establish a direction for the threads that will be inserted. Afterwards, the points of insertion will be thoroughly anesthetised.

Depending on the technique, multiple threads might be inserted at the same point. The PDO threads will be attached to a cannula or needle that the practitioner will insert in your skin and push it through the tissues underneath. They will use a bi-directional approach to suspend, lift and grasp the facial area. The basket-weave or cross-hatch pattern is usually utilised to attain the desired results.
